Encouraging McKenzee Grace to love books is one of my main goals this year.  I hope to read her many new books while enjoying her favorites over and over.

This is no where near a complete book list for her, but it's a good one for us to get started on.  I will be adding more books throughout the year :)

Our daily summer schedule!

We are all getting SO excited for summer!  My kids will be continuing all their studies throughout the summer months... with a few weeks off for traveling.  We have a crazy summer schedule already though so I'm trying to get everything organized to take back and forth with us to the gym for them to work on while we sit there {for 27 hours/week}.  At home we will work on history, science and art but everything else I am sure we can accomplish during those long hours at the gym {and the trip to and from the gym... 30 minutes each way}.  This will still leave lots of time for swimming, camping, bike riding, playing outside... and all that fun "summer stuff"

McKenzee Grace: Preschool Curriculum

PHONICS

McKenzee Grace can recognize all 26 letters (capital and small) and she knows all 26 letter sounds {I say the letter she can tell me the sound; I say the sound she can tell me the letter}.  I will continue to work with her on recognizing beginning sounds, ending sounds and sight words and identifying vowels.  Once I feel she is ready I will introduce blending {ba, be, bi, bo, bu} and eventually will add a final consonant to blends to read CVC words.

First Day of School (2011 - 2012)

The first day of school is always such an exciting day!  The kids have all looked forward to it for weeks... they've been counting down the days to the Friday we would start.  I've been making plans and while I couldn't wait to get us back into the school routine I have also been a little bit nervous.  Having 4 children in grades 3rd, 2nd, 1st and PreK is going to take a lot of time and it's going to require me to be completely organized to get it all done.  Especially considering the kids activities that require us to be out of the house every evening and on Saturdays.

A Thank You!!

I have spent a lot of time trying to come up with a 'button' for my blog. But I was really kind of clueless on what it should look like. LOL! I was so excited when Jolanthe from Homeschool Creations emailed me telling me she had created one for me. I am SO thankful to her! I LOVE it and it is just perfect for my blog!

Thank you SO much Jolanthe :)

Organizing and planning

We had such a wonderful Christmas! I knew things would get really hectic the last few days before Christmas and I was right. We got SO busy. I have not had a chance to catch up but we had an AWESOME Christmas. The kids were thrilled with all of their gifts (including a NEW puppy that the elves named Holly... oh she is ADORABLE). I hope that each of you had a great Christmas too!!

We are still on break right now here and I am taking this time to get some planning done and get re-organized! I have a LOT I want to accomplish with the kids and I have a LOT of printables to share

We will be resuming school on Tuesday, January 12th! I will start posting again more then

Finger Painting Fun!

This week we are mostly reviewing (and getting our house ready to list for sale, big project)! So today I decided to pull out the finger paints for the kids and they went crazy making pictures for about 2 hours! LOVE activities like this...

Photobucket

As much as we are enjoying winter I think the kids may all be getting anxious for spring. They were all making pictures of green grass, flowers, a bright sun, rainbows... all sorts of things that reminded them of warmer weather!

Shape Beginnings: Shape Viewers

Photobucket

My kids have been having SO much fun with these shape viewers!

We use them to search for matching shapes (like holding the circle up by a circle object such as a door handle) or to hold out and view the world as that shape :)

Raising Rock Stars ~ Heaven

BIBLE VERSE
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." - John 14:3

LESSON

Where is Heaven?  Can we walk to Heaven?  Can we drive to Heaven?  Of course, the kids all laughed at these questions but it helped make my point.  We cannot get to Heaven on our own.  Only through Jesus will we get to Heaven (read: John 14:5) .  We have to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and ask Him to forgive us for our sins and invite Him to live in our hearts.
